Project: PIGMENTS - PaInts and coatinGs: Material Engineering, desigN and innovative Technologies for Sustainability
Project ID: 101241110
Start Date: 01/10/2025
End Date: 01/01/2027
The PIGMENTS project aims to design an innovative and fully integrated international master’s programme focused on sustainable paints and coatings technologies. The project responds to a clear skills gap in higher education by combining material engineering, sustainability principles, and digital transformation aligned with European and Erasmus+ priorities.
The programme will address key industry challenges, including environmental impact, regulatory pressure, and the growing demand for low-emission and high-performance coating solutions. It integrates advanced topics such as surface and formulation engineering, nanotechnology, Industry 4.0 tools, and artificial intelligence, while also strengthening transversal skills such as project management, critical thinking, and intellectual property.
PIGMENTS is developed by a transnational consortium of higher education institutions from Croatia, France, Portugal, and Canada, in close cooperation with industrial associations and companies from the paints and coatings sector. This collaboration ensures strong alignment with labour market needs and reinforces the employability and global competitiveness of future graduates.
The main objectives of the project are to:
Design and develop a fully integrated international master’s programme focused on sustainable paints and coatings technologies.
Address the skills gap in higher education by combining material engineering, sustainability principles, and digital transformation aligned with European priorities.
Integrate advanced topics such as surface and formulation engineering, nanotechnology, Industry 4.0 tools, and artificial intelligence into the curriculum.
Strengthen cooperation between higher education institutions and industrial partners to ensure strong alignment with labour market needs.
Promote innovation, employability, and global competitiveness of future graduates through interdisciplinary training and international collaboration.
